Worker Power Action Hour

Join us for a worker power action hour! We'll support service workers who currently rely on tips in their fight for a living wage and a Kavod member organizing to form a union at her workplace.

Across Massachusetts, service workers are calling for an end to the tipped sub-minimum wage that perpetuates racial and gender inequality, keeps people in poverty, and creates unsafe working conditions. Tipped workers make 5.55/hr, well below the MA minimum wage of 13.50, and even further below a livable wage. In the MA restaurant industry, Black women service workers are paid almost $8 less per hour than white men in the same position. Relying on tips also means servers have to endure racist and sexist harassment, or risk losing their wages.

Join us as we call on our communities and elected officials to bring an end to this injustice!
